booooo.

soooo, we thought we were gonna have the chance to find out what we are having today but unfortunately our doctor had other plans. instead we got to hear our baby's very strong heartbeat for the first time, beating between 140-150 bpm and bouncing around the uterus like a little jumping bean. our 20 week ultrasound will be in a couple weeks and doctor says we'll definitely know by then. woohoo!

EARTHQUAKE!!!

so this morning, at 11:42 AM, we had our first earthquake since moving back!!

in the midst of nothing began the rumbling from deep within, the rolling of the floors, and the creaking of the walls. as i stayed very still and looked around, i watched our lights and pictures sway back and forth and back and forth again as it seemed to never want to stop. luckily there was no damage to anything in or around our apartment.

the earthquake at a 5.4 magnitude was located in chino hills, about 45-50 miles away and lasted for about 45 seconds and was immediately followed by a series of aftershocks. woohoo!!

hugs to kawehi!!!!

this book is amazing. i don't know how women in america has made it through morning sickness without it. it made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me feel comforted that other women out there have gone through what i went through and that for some odd reason, morning sickness is good.  i felt comforted just knowing it was near me and since the day it arrived in our mailbox, i have not put it down!!

thanks kawehi for making me feel a hundred times better and for helping bring me laughs as i thought about all those times all i felt like doing was dry heaving!!

nostalgia.

this past weekend, myka and i looked over old photos of the two of us and a wave of nostalgia came over us as we realized...

29 months ago, myka and i met and became friends.

15 months ago, we started dating.

14 and a half months ago, we knew we never wanted to be apart again.

13 months ago, myka proposed to me to one night.

8 months ago today, we got married amidst thunder storms and couple close friends.

4 months ago, our little baby was conceived.

3 months ago, we renewed our vows with our family and friends.

2 months ago, we moved out to california.

at the end of our walk down memory lane, we couldn't help by smile and say "i love you" to one another. our lives are never dull and we truly are blessed.

17 wks.

17 weeks... almost halfway there!! YEA! even though it feels like much, much longer!!

the pregnancy seems to be agreeing with me much more nowadays. the nausea and throwing up has finally subsided for the most part, thank goodness. all in all, i think i lost about 10 lbs during the first trimester. BLEH! but not to worry, because the days of eating like a cow have arrived. seems like i can't consume enough food!! and oh yes, those cravings for avocados, nectarines, raisin toast, french fries, popsicles, pasta, salad, panda
express, mongolian bbq and french bread have hit an all-time high. it makes me laugh.

i'm definitely starting to show as you can see in the pictures and i can definitely feel the changes in my body more than ever. i'm no longer able to lie on my back, it takes me forever to get up, i pee 23804814891474732741 times a day and i no longer fit in any of my "regular" clothes. i also have lots of cramping, or round ligament pains, which is a good sign baby is growing! i gotta say though, all in all, i am definitely loving being pregnant!!

baby shopping.

last night we went furniture shopping for baby. and whew! who knew that could be so
complicated!! fun, but complicated!!

we ended up buying a neutral play yard with a
built-in bassinet, changing table, music and the whole nine yards. we're still debating the need for a bassinet, so we'll see. and now i've gone on to look into cribs, changing tables, and all the other little knicks and knacks. how fun!

only about 23-ish more weeks to go!!

baby's first kick.

14 wks.

today we met our new ob-gyn and i just gotta say, it was a huge sigh of relief. what a difference from our ob-gym in hawaii!!

in addition we got to see our little peapod ... and boy were we surprised at the growing our baby has been doing!!! we saw the baby's spine, a very strong heartbeat, a little hand wave at us, and a very distinctive head!! definitely no longer a peapod!! it definitely brought a smile to our faces!

doctor says it's a little early to tell what it is, but by the next appointment (july 31st) we should be able to settle all our friendly bets on what the baby is!! YAY!! we can finally finalize our baby names and start shopping for pink or blue!!

the doctor says my nausea should (hopefully) start to go away
but unfortunately, only time will tell. we'll see how cooperative our little one wants to be.

as for my baby bump, it's definitely getting there. it's been a strange experience noticing my belly and waistline expand and no longer fitting into my clothes, especially when i can hardly eat or keep anything down!!!

all in all, baby survived the move and is doing healthy. we couldn't be more blessed.
