It's that time of the year and our family has been busy with family photos. On vacation we did them with M's family and tonight we did them with mine.
Busy. But seriously, can I just say, I absolutely LOOOOVE it.
I love getting dolled up. Love coordinating and picking out the outfits. Love organizing fun family things like this. And then finding the perfect background to fit everyone's look?! Love, love, love!!

We're, traditionally, not a huge family photo family. Infact, the last family photo of my extended family, was 2.5 years ago, at mine and M's wedding. Things were different, my mama and father were holding on by a thread but still together and Little Miss B hadn't yet blessed us with her presence.
Life has really changed.
And fast.
But all for the best.
Always for the best.
Anyways,
the past year or so, I've watched our family go through a lot of changes. And with changes, passes time. And with time comes age. And I've watched my grandparents slowly age. Which is sad when you remember spending all your moments with them growing up.
So one day, while browsing around their house, I stumbled upon the above wedding photo. I couldn't help by sigh, remembering all the changes and thinking, we really need to update this. And after many complaints and lots of grumbling about it, tonight was the first time, EVER, that we all got together for the sole purpose of family photos.
And we had a blast.
We laughed. We hugged. We giggled. Miss B smiled goofy every time the camera pointed at her. And we were together.
I remember one point in the photoshoot, standing in between my brothers {mind you, they are 6'8" and 6'2"} with my mama looking on, thinking, "Wow, this is us. This is our family. Grown up. Stronger than ever. Challenges have come and gone. But we are still all here. Family."
The location was great. The sun setting was gorgeous. The colors were amazing. I can't WAIT to see how they turned out.
Life is amazing. And family is forever.
Love this post because it is so true. Family is what matters in life. Always!
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had a family photo done since I was married 7 years ago!!!
So sweet, so true! I have been feeling time slipping by so quickly lately (maybe it is how fast Otto is growing, or maybe I'm just realizing like you that my parents are getting older, as am I)... Ugh. We are getting our little family (me, Rob, Ot, dog) portraits taken in a few weeks for just this reason. Wanting to capture it before it flees! xoxo
